The Little Dixie Highway of the Great River Road, a nationally designated scenic byway, covers a 30-mile stretch of highway along the great Mississippi River from the restored river town of Clarksville, to the north Pike County line.  The Highway includes the historic river town of Louisiana, Missouri.  Gently rolling hills, lush green pastures and wildlife are found along the ribbon of highway following the Mississippi River.  Interpretive signage and a bicycle trail.

The second Scenic Byway in the state of Missouri begins in Clarksville on Route W to Paynesville, then to Route WW through Edgewood to US Highway 61.

Route D, beginning at Route 79 one mile south of Louisiana takes travelers through rolling hills to the small town of Eolia.  Here one finds St. Johns, the oldest Episcopal Church west of the Mississippi River.  It's cemetery filled with graves of Meriweather families and other well known settlers.  Along this route, located in Downtown Eolia are the Prarieville General Store and Feed Store Antiques.

Old Belt Road beginning in Clarksville on route W then to route WW to route D to route N to Hwy. 79 returning to Clarksville.  This route was chosen for the first national Bicycle Races in 1867.  It was used until recently for the Missouri State Championship Bicycle Races.  Call 573.242.3993 or 573.242.3336 for more information.

Route H goes through lush farmland at Eolia and past geologically fascinating knobs to the small community of Paynesville.

Frankford, located off of Hwy. 61,  is home to one of the few remaining stone arched railroad bridges left in the country.  Contact the Frankford City Clerk for more information,  573.784.2618.
